What is preferable to you eating organic or eating foods in season in your area?!

Question: What exactly is organic? I'm sure this is the same food we ate 50 years ago. Because I'm older, I'm sure, I always eat foods in season - I look forward to the asparagus and new potatoes and I grow tomatoes on my balcony & zuchini especially for the blossoms they are delicious. What is better than fresh lettuce & cabbage & rutebages and when the fruit is in season it's delicious. I enjoy meals you can look forward to in the Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter. Now that we can have everything all the time due to transport from other countries it's instant gratification without any anticipation. I know my family eats seasonally. But, if you think about it; most people relate to the Easter dinner table, it's traditional and so is Thanksgiving & Christmas & New Year according to one's own tradition. But is it seasonal. Few can afford to pay for Organic considering 50 years ago it was the most inexpensive. If your food bill is $100.00 +/- a week seasonal it would be $150.00 - $200.00 + Organic - Actually more as all meats, fish, poultry, vegetables, milk, butter & cheese are out there "organic". We now live in a world we have created with pesticides etc. Perhaps the tomatoes & potatoes & lettuces aren't quite so pretty but I can't afford organic and grow the few things I can.

organic most of the time... I know that they say that that organic is not truly organic.. but I am a sucker. But when I can get a true in season Knoxville tomato I am all over it, organic or not

Eating foods in season in my area usually comes first, mostly because I feel like I'm supporting the local farmers and economy. That's the same reason I rarely eat at any chain-restaurants - I prefer to support local as much as I can. I also like local produce because it's usually fresher...it doesn't have to travel so far. But I do support organic, too, as much as possible.

i never really thought about eating in the season of those around me. i like to eat organic. i love fruits and vegetables. i stay far away from meat and milk. just because of the stuff they inject in animals these days. with cancer/disease on the rise. you can't be to careful. good question. your on a roll.
