It will be just fine. Just make sure you add salt and pepper. Dry food items stay good wayyyyyyy longer than the date usually say it does.

I used a box of Jiffy cornbread mix that expired last sept. It was just fine.

no it says best used by for a reason!

OH no do net eat it...throw it out

Its all dry ingredients I would say yes the spices in it may not be as vibrant as the day you bought it.
In the old days they never had expiration dates on anything....??

Yes by all means ,it is not a perishable item, might not taste as good as new but it won't harm you

ew, no!

yeah, it should be safe because that stuff is packed with preservatives. that date on dry ingredients is so that the spices have the same punch as they did when they came off the assembly line. it may not taste exactly the same but who just makes a boxed meal without adding more spices to it anyway. add some more garlic and onion powder and you should be fine!

I wouldn't use it.

If the package is well sealed and has not been damaged in any way from moisture, it probably won't be harmful but don't count on it tasting good.

unless u want to go to the hospital eat away

If you want to, but I wouldn't recommend it. The expiration/use by date is on the box for a reason. If you have ever studied chemistry or food safety like I have, you would heed the dates on all food items whether or not YOU think they are good.

Bacteria, mold, and toxins can grow in these items, giving preservatives the raspberries as it were. Just because something is laden with chemicals, that does not mean a chemical reaction has not taken place. The packaging can react over time, the ingredients can react with each other over time, and spoilage does occur to even the most highly preservative loaded foods. That goes for cans, jars, and dry goods.

Rancid oils are another factor to consider. They have their own effect on the human physiology and are not recommended to consume. The dry goods you are speaking about do have oil and oil esters in them that can go rancid over time.

So best to pitch expired items to be safe. Even a bulging can should be discarded - that is a symptom of spoilage.

Frozen foods have a "shelf life" too. Frozen meats should be used in 3 months and breads and fruits and veggies, 4-6 months. Label your freezer items with dates so you can keep track of when they expire.

Be smart and eat right to keep fit. Your body will thank you.

Challenge yourself to make up your own hamburger helper. You might be amazed at what you can produce with onions, garlic, salt & pepper, a pinch of sugar, and some choice herbs in small amounts like oregano, paprika, thyme, marjoram (wild oregano), basil, and some worcestershire sauce. You would save $$$ in the long run as well.
