The date on an egg carton is a sell-by date. They will remain good for use about 2 weeks later. If you want to test an egg, place it in a pan of water; if it sinks to the bottom, it's fresh, if it sits a tad off the bottom, still fine, should it rise to the top of the water and float, it's dead. If you want to hard-boil eggs that will peel easily, use eggs that are a little older. The fresher an egg, the tighter the shell will stick.

rule of thumb in the industry is 3 days past pull

Probably you won't be able to use them.
Eggs aren't like milk, usually by the expiration date they go bad.
Maybe ask a neighbor??

You can try breaking one of the eggs and if it looks and smells fine, use it.

That's a liiiiiiitle bit too long. Like the other guy says go ask a neighbor (that is if you even contact or know your neighbor...I don't).

But to tell you the truth, I don't throw away the milk until it smells sour. LOL. So crack it open and see if it's weird-looking/smelling.

If you keep them in the fridge they last much longer than the use by date.I've cooked with eggs several months old because they still smelled fresh. Mind you I wouldn't eat them with my bacon that old!
