I am having a Christmas Brunch for my family. What type of menu should I hav?!

Question: Iam thinking beyond the typical eggs and bacon. Does brunch have to be breakfast foods? What is acceptable and what is not? I have never hosted a brunch before.

THANKS!

Brunch should include breakfast food and lunch foods. I don't like going to a brunch and everything is sweet cold foods. Not everyone can eat that. I like to see hot and savory foods too. How about a breakfast pizza or casserole, croissants, bagels and fruit, and then a cold pasta salad, deli sandwiches, veggie and/or shrimp platter, and a meat and cheese platter, and maybe a soup.

You don't have to make all that, just some ideas.

well ill say a menu for kids and adults that means they have to be seperate. : )

My mom does that every year for Christmas, she has fried potatoes, quartered, par-boiled and then fried with rosemary and thyme, an egg bake, with bacon, sausage, cheese and hash browns. Offer pancakes, waffles, eggs, and toast. You can also offer a variety of sandwiches, ham, turkey, roast beef, with the fixings, fried chicken is also a favorite among my family.
I hope this helps!

Good luck, and have fun with it!

Quiche makes good make ahead brunch food. Perhaps a few ham steaks (or get a whole ham) Biscuits and other pastries. A good fruit salad would be on the menu at my house. French toast and pancakes are great but are not as good when made ahead and you don't want to spend your entire dinner in the kitchen cooking.

Brunch is a combination of breakfast and lunch foods, hence the name. If you don't want breakfast foods, just call it lunch. You can serve whatever you want, as simple or elaborate as you wish to be. There is no right or wrong.
