Vinegar and Oil?!

Question: Hi! This is an odd question ....so please don't judge me lol!

Anyways, i'm getting married in four months and im updating my registry and i see I added these GORGEOUS bottles from bed bath and beyond..one red for red wine vinegar (or even regular) and one green for olive oil, they are just the bottles you turn over, you don't have to take anything off..is that ok to have olive oil and vinegar out? Like say on the counter for free use? Does it go bad?

Hi Chesney,

Yes, this is fine.

This past September, we visited Italy on your honeymoon, and the Italians leave vinegar and oil on their tables all the time. This way, when people make salads, they can add the oil and vinegar to their tastes!

Oil and vinegar is so good on salads, and just add a little salt and pepper to taste.

When we′re back in the States, or in Italy again, I′m going to get those bottles too! They are great decorations and hold healthy things too.

no Vinegar and oil don't go bad... I don't think so at least...

Both are kept outside at room temperature. You don't have to refrigerate or anything...

I keep my olive oil, red wine vinegar, and balsamic vinegar in decorator type bottles with pour spouts. They stay on my kitchen counter. They'll stay good for a long time.

They should be okay, since they are both normally stored at room temperature. The main thing to remember for olive oil is that it has to be protected from the light (especially sunlight), otherwise it will turn rancid. So if it's in a clear bottle it has to be kept closed away in the cupboard between uses, but if it's in an opaque, dark glass, or ceramic bottle or a metal can it can be kept out of the cupboard, on a counter or table. But even in the case of dark transparent glass, I'd keep it out of the light, just to be sure. Of course, it would also depend on how quickly you're able to use it up.

No, vinegar n oil will not go bad when left on the counter. They r meant to be on the counter especially when they r in lovely 2-compartment bottles or u call them turn-over bottles. I never refrigerate my bottles of vinegar n oil at all. I leave them where I will leave my salt, pepper n soy sauce.

Vinager and Honey, Honey. :) Don't worry, I am not judging you.
