What is the purpose of the oil pack in instant noodles?!

Question: I've been wondering about this all my life.

Answers: I've been wondering about this all my life.

The fats in the oil bind with the starch from the noodles to create a smoother, more gravy-like broth. It will be at it's thickest when 212degrees F is reached. It's also used as flavor enhancer...

I think it's basically to keep the noodles from sticking.

some ppl think it taste good , but i suggest not because they are very bad for you,. however a lil bit its alright (:

It is for additional flavor. In spicy instant noodles, the oil is sesame oil that has red chilis fried in it. In non-spicy noodles, it is plain sesame oil which gives the dish a relly oriental flavor.

It keeps the noodles from becoming a sticky, congealed mess (it sort of lubricates them - you know how they're starchy sometimes or just stick and you can't really stir them if you refridgerate them?) Also, it's for added flavor, usually it's a flavorful oil, like peanut oil. It enhances the experience.
