Jiffy Pop?!

Question: I bough a thing of Jiffy Pop as a fun thing for my daughter and I to do, but on the package it says to not use it on ceramic top stoves. Why is that?

Answers: I bough a thing of Jiffy Pop as a fun thing for my daughter and I to do, but on the package it says to not use it on ceramic top stoves. Why is that?

Because the foil bottom can scratch it and leave black marks from the hot aluminum rubbing around on it. Also the aluminum is thin. The corn is hot as is the oil and aluminum is a great conductor of heat. In some older models this could lead to a crack.

scratches. this was made for the steel coils from the old style stoves

Possibly because ceramic cooktops require very flat bottoms on the pots and pans you use which may not be possible with the thin jiffy pop aluminum popper.
