i'm great at peeling oranges!
to get the peel to come off more easily, roll the orange around with a little pressure, so it stretches a little in different directions and breaks the connecitons inside the peel a bit.
then i stick my thumb in near the stem end, parallel to the direction the segments run. i like to take the peel off all in one piece, so i run my thumb around the orange underneath the peel, tryinn not to allow any small chunks to break off.
rolling it around a bit first is the key, though.

cut the end off and slice through the peel the long way and peel...

There are citrus peeling tools that will make your life SO much easier. Check a cooks supply store or search online (http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0oG...

Alternately, cut the orange into wedges (6th's works well) and eat it that way. It's what I used to do before I got a peeler!

Cut along the lenght of the orange all around the orange just like you are tracing wedges then pull the peel and each one will come off easily. And your orange will look like a lotus flower when opened.

Forget peeling...cut orange in half, then quarters, even eighths, and eat inside away from the skim. Not at all messy.
