What is the best affordable coffee maker?!

Question: I don't need it to make espresso, just good coffee.

Answers: I don't need it to make espresso, just good coffee.

Mr. Coffee is the most affordable and it makes a good pot of coffee.

Invest in a French press and a thermos to keep the coffee warm. It's fabulous.

Actually you don't even need a coffee maker.

Boil some water
line a strainer with a coffee filter
place ground coffee in strainer
place strainer (complete with coffee) over 4-6 cup pitcher or measuring bowl.

and

pour boiling water over coffee in strainer

This is some of the very best coffee you've ever had!!!
And... it is always fresh...

gravity drip coffee makers run about $10... and make outstanding coffee.

the one i have is by melita- you boil some water in a tea kettle, put in a #6 filter, some good coffee, pour the water in and it drips down into the coffee pot!

pick up a Bodum french press - starbucks or bed bath and beyond should have them

Snowbird with Gaggia here and up north (the Great White North); back-ups are Bialetti stove top. Messier than some but coffee is quite good, stong (to taste) and hot (to carry). Almost a reverse Silex. Available from 10$ to 150$
