Is there a grace period for food label expiration dates?!
Answers: I was just wondering about the "sell by" or "expiration" dates on food. I was wondering if its unopen and past the date is it still good? I've had milk taste perfectly fine three days past the date? Whats the rule of thumb?
sell dates are for stores .exparation dates are for us,expecally poultry, maets unless they are frozen before the exparation date.if not frozen use with in aday apearance and oder will let you know.
the experation date is more of a whole store cant sell them after that ive had food past the due date and it was still good
There really isn't a rule of thumb so to speak. I go 1 week past but I check the smell every time I pour from the milk carton. yoplait yogurt has a grace period printed on the container of 7 days past sell by date. (I think on most products you can find this?) Check it for funky smell that is usually the key!
It depends how much you trust your store. Sell by you usually get 3-5 days if unopened. Use by is accurate.
