Why does Santa traditionally have sherry and a mince pie in England and milk and cookies in America?!
Answers: In Australia, we leave milk and biscuits for Santa and a carrot for his reindeer. You'd think Aussies would leave beer and vegemite sandwiches!

Cos we always have sherry and mince pies in the house at Christmas, and the Americans always have cookies and milk whatever time of the year!

I don't know where the tradition came from, but my parents always told me that Father Christmas REALLY enjoyed his sherry...
And think about it, you have been travelling in the snow and rain and cold, for hours, visiting every child in the world, delivering presents out of the goodness of your heart, what do you really want? What is going warm you up and keep the cold away as you fly across fields and oceans? That's right, sherry all the way...

Santa is a busy man and I reckon he loves it when he gets to the UK on his rounds because he knows he will get something decent to eat and drink to keep him toasty warm.

He gets a glass of Port and a mince pie in our house, and he always leaves a thank you note - we've had no complaints yet. I think we Brits are a tad more sophisticated, that's why.

because Santa delivers in the USA first and he wants to make sure he's got a clear head for his busy night. By the time he reaches us in the UK he's nearly done so he can afford to indulge in a bit of alcohol. That is the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth
