Does anyone remember the REAL ice cream.....?!
Answers: They used to have the self serve ice cream at gas stations, it was always vanilla.. (I am 31), it was SOOO good, it had the little ice crystals in it. Ice cream just never tastes good to me because I grew up with that stuff. Anyone know of a place that still has it? I cant even eat DQ or McD's!!
I hear ya! I miss the real thing as well. There is an ice cream company called Hershey's -suposedly has nothing to do with the candy maker of the same name- that distributes mostly to stores in rural areas as well as Hardee's restaurants which serve it in scoops on cones.
I've only tried the kind in the convenience stores like ice cream sandwiches and various pops which are all delicious and usually cheap but, I think that Hardees charges too much for theirs yet, I don't doubt that it is just as good if not better than the store-bought products.
Soda Fountains are non existent anymore. Shame.
Even in the smallest of towns the ice cream fountains if they exist have different ice cream.
I remember them very well. Nothing beat walking to your local drug store and having a scoop of ice cream on a cone! Or maybe even a float!
