Cracked open an egg and there was red in the whites of the egg?!
Does anybody have an idea of what it is?
Answers: I cracked an egg open and there was a red colour in the egg whites. The yolk was still yellow but the egg whites had a red liquid in it.
Does anybody have an idea of what it is?
That happened to me before too and someone told me that it was because the egg was fertile and had begun to develop already so that the baby chick's blood was forming inside the egg, but I can't anything that verifies it on the internet.
* EDIT:
"Can you eat eggs with blood spots?
Eggs with a visible blood spot on the yolk are safe for consumption. The spot can be removed with the tip of a knife. Blood or "meat" spots are occasionally found on an egg yolk. These tiny spots are not harmful and are caused by the rupture of a blood vessel during formation of the egg. Blood spots do not indicate a fertilized egg. Mass candling methods reveal most blood spots and those eggs are removed, but even with electronic spotters, it is impossible to catch all of them. If desired, the spot can be removed with the tip of a clean knife prior to cooking. These eggs are safe to eat."
I guess it isn't a developing chick and it's also safe to eat! Haha :)

I dont know what that is but i had that happen before and i threw it out. I would not eat it. Maybe it was the chickens misscarrige. who knows
never eat an egg with a spot of blood. this doesn't happen very often but when it does / throw it out / and if you have already added it to your mix , throw all ingredients out and start fresh again . sorry !
so you noticed some blood in an embryo, if you look closely at the others you'll find theres also a heavy white bladder ( also part of the embryo ! don't get grossed out it's all fine and very NATURAL in the egg's -and hey at least i never complain when i get twin's in one shell !!!so why freak when you got some blood eat it it's fine and just as good as the other's .
