I thawed a chicken on Sunday. Will it keep in the fridge until Thursday?!

Question: I don't mess with fish, chicken, or pork. If it is a whole chicken, chances are it may still be partially frozen. If not, best to cook no later than tomorrow evening. Chicken is a bacteria hog, and grows it fast.

i wouldnt: cook it instead tomorrow.

You should marinate it and freeze it again and thaw it on Wednesday.

No, I would not leave it that long. I would cook it and either refrigerate it and reheat just before you need it, or freeze it and thaw it on Wednesday.

no. cook it tonight.

if you know you need the chicken on Thursday, why did you not take it out on Wednesday morning. I think the chicken might be okay has long as it it stiored at he correct tempreture, when it is thawed you should wash and season it with salt and pepper, and clinged tightly and store in the coldest part of the fridge.

You can't refreeze the meat. It will still go bad. You will have to go ahead and cook it. After you cook it you can store in the refrigerator a few more days. It will not be good to cook by Thursday.

NO, Cook it tonight! Do not refreeze it until it has been cooked! You can not mess around with raw meat!

No, it won't keep. Chicken at most after it has been refrigerator thawed will last 2 days. After that, you are definitely risking food poisoning. If you thawed it using other methods (microwave, cold water), you need to use the chicken the same day. Chicken should not be refrozen once thawed by any method, but I have done it after refrigerator thawing for one day without any ill effects.

You should be fine. Depending on how old the chicken was before you froze it. Typically a chicken is good for 10-14 days under refrigeration and 10 -12 months frozen.

I had this exact experience last week. I was a little leery but it had been in the fridge that whole time, it smelled fine and so I cooked it. Still here to talk about it.
Normally I would not do this but last week due to circumstance it was the best I could do.

When you buy chicken at the grocery store, it's chilled but not frozen. DO NOT re-freeze it; it will taste terrible. At least put it in some marinade and in a tight zip-lock style bag. This will help preserve it until then. Next time plan your meals better.

put it back in the freezer and then take it back out thursday mornig then fix your meal for that night. That's what i would do If I were you.

No you will have to cook the chicken.or you will get or you get some type of food poison.

Depends on how you thawed it. If you thawed it the refrigerator it will be OK but only if you bought it frozen. Was it fresh chicken and did you have it in the fridge for a few days before you froze it, if so don't wait until Thursday cook it now - perhaps even make a soup broth and then use the chicken for a pot pie or stew with dumplings you could even slice it up for sandwiches - hot chicken sandwich with gravy mashed potatoes peas and/or corn sounds pretty good to me. After you have cooked it you can refreeze. Be very careful with all meat/s poultry /seafood /defrosting. There are recommendations on frozen food items for defrosting. Good idea to read & follow them.

it'll keep growing stuff around it YEA !!

I can't believe the number of people who don't know basic food safety rules. For those of you who have thawed and refrozen meat do you ever get sick. Refreezing meat is always a bad option. You can thaw chicken and it will last a few days max if it is kept in the original packing and not opened. As soon as you open it and handle it the time it is good for goes down. If it is a whole chicken I recommend putting in into a brine on Monday night or Tuesday morning and let it sit in that for about 24 hours then cook it and reheat on Thursday. The brine will put extra moisture and flavor into the meat and when you reheat it on Thursday you will have a better chance of not having dried out chicken dinner. Good luck and don't get sick.
