Raw cane sugar vs. table sugar, what's the difference? (besides color and texture)?!

Question: Raw sugar has not been processed - many of the nutrients in sugar remain if you don`t bleach it and process it to death.

Compare cheddar cheese to processed slices to powdered cheese in those little packages in your Kraft Dinner box... different nutritional value... different level of processing...

Yummm.... Kraft Dinner... LOL

I did a quick Wikipedia search to make sure I wasn`t out in left field...

``Sugar-cane in its natural form provides a rich source of vitamins and minerals, but refined sugar lacks every nutrient in a measurable quantity except for pure carbohydrate in its extrinsic form.[citation needed] Refined sugar differs fundamentally different from sugar-cane, and the World Health Organization and FAO explicitly segregate the two.``

Raw sugar is processed less, so it's in a more "natural" form. Table sugar is refined and bleached to get it's color and texture.

one is pure the other is not

Table sugar is refined from cane sugar or sugar beet.
The sugar-refining industry often uses bone char (calcinated animal bones) for decolorizing, which is of concern to vegans and vegetarians.
Raw cane can be reduced to unrefined sugar for direct sale.

raw sugar is suppossedly healthier

Raw sugar has more of a deeper molasses flavor. I guess richer is a better way of describing it. Table sugar just is sweet. Hope that helps.

Raw sugar cane sugar is more natural and less proccessed. Table sugar has been bleached, proccessed, and is not as healthy as raw cane sugar.
