Why does a toaster have a setting that would burn the toast so much that no one would want to eat it?!

Question: Ive never understood this, on my toaster, there are 8 settings. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. 1 does nowt, 2 warms it slightly, 3 slightly toasts it, 4 toasts it, 5 slightly burns it, 6 burns it bad, 7 absolutely burns it to hell, and 8 absolutely dissintergrates it (well, it kinda does!)

Some people freeze bread, and toast it directly out of the freezer. So the high settings could be used for that. But most toasters are really cheap so they have really wide-ranging settings to allow for differences in manufacturing.

I set mine on 10 and it doesn't even toast it, let alone burn it.
I'd gladly trade any day.

I'm looking for a new one that you can set at 11.
