Vets only ok?!
the question: what were your favorite creations from K-rations, C-rations, MRE, T-rats or other stuff.
i'm still addicted to emergency rations, (2400calorie food bars) and those dry, crackers that used to come in the 12 inch square cans with peanut butter.
what did you create out all those wonderful things you had to work with?
Answers: i have been in the service for a long time, and have served in isolation duty for a year, as well as "hot" spots like germany and spain.

mre meatloaf and mashed potato's with a little sprinkle of red pepper.it sounds bland but the cooks at our defac were mostly indians, and the spices were always just a little off.so even when it was a common dish ,it would taste kinda weird. and beef dishes in particular were botched beyond recognition.also point of origin is an important consideration when choosing mre's,texas was best for enchiladas ,great with jalapeno cheese packets, south carolina meatloaf and Cincinnati beef stew were also favorites.i could go on and on and a lot of days when i'm trying to decide ,wendy's mc'donald's or pizza hut ...i wish i could just go to the bunker and swipe a mre instead.
I liked the dehydrated fruit from the MRE's...just add water. They were a little dry, but once you took an ice cold swig from your nearly frozen canteen, it was as good as Libby's fruits in a can.
I don't recommend eating your dry MRE's while marching because it is very easy to inhale the powders before you can swig your ice water.
I can't say because I never had a chance to try it.
hobo stew...smile
I use Soya Protien buiskit.
