Cool Whip in the fridge, thawed, safe?!

Question: I bought a tub of Cool Whip about 3 weeks ago. The date on the bottom only says to sell by 08/10/08 for the grocery stores, but that is also frozen. There is no expiration date on it anywhere. I have had mine THAWED in the fridge for these 3 weeks. I know in years past, we used to keep canned Redi Whip for a good while, but I am not sure about a tub of Cool Whip, if it holds up as well. Rather than take a chance, I will throw it out, but wondered if it is still safe to serve or not. Would I be safe enough in tasting it to know? Thanks for your help.

Taste it, if taste good than fine. I have eaten cool whip when it has been in the fridge for that long.....

I have had cool whip which has been frozen for weeks and it is still good. I think it is one of those foods like twinkies that just last forever! I would definately smell it and make sure it smells normal first, though.

Check the label. I know that it used to say on the lid how long you could keep Cool Whip in the fridge. I've forgotten now and don't have a container in the freezer. I do know that Cool Whip will go bad - had it happen. Personnally I wouldn't eat Cool Whip unfrozen that long

It should be alright, but for safety sake I would get another one.

as long as it taste fine and doesn't have mold it's good..
