Was Cocaine an actual ingredient in Coca-Cola?!
Answers: Please provide references.
Coca-cola originally got its name cause the stimulant ingredient was derived from Coca leaves, which is also where cocaine is produced from. Coca-cola was originally developed as a medicine. the makers claimed Coca-Cola cured many diseases, including morphine addiction, dyspepsia, neurasthenia, headache, and impotence. in 1903 they removed it and replaced with something new. now, Coke uses a non-narcotic coca leaf. In the United States, Stepan Company is the only manufacturing plant authorized by the Federal Government to import and process the coca plant. thats why you will notice that they are the only Coke company that ships out the coke, while everywhere else it is bottled.
When Coca-Cola was first invented it had some cocaine in it.
yes, look @ source
I also heard it was and believe it cause even the fast food restaurants put stuff to addict society of their products, why do you think people return knowing it's bad for you??? cause they put chemicals in our food to make us come back...think about it.
We live in an ignorant society, there's alot going on that we either don't know or refuse to even care.
You mean they took it out? No wonder I still get the shakes.
Yes when first concocted cocaine was still legal. The beverage was meant to refresh and invigorate. Cola extract was used for stomach problems and cocaine explains its self. The way the story goes is that a traveling salesman was hot and tired and asked a pharmacist if he could come up with something that would help. (This was in the era of the soda-jerk, no fizzy bottled pop back then, in fact soda fountains would make their own CO2 on site.) When cocaine became illegal (think "refer madness") they had to switch to caffeine.
The biggest story is how they learned how to bottle a carbonated soda and that is an other story.
Yes when it was first put on the market.
