Answers: I was born in 1960 and when I was in elementary school, if we were caught chewing gum, we had to turn in a report on "chicle" which was, at the time, the primary ingredient which makes gum "chewy." The chewing gum "Chiclets" gets it name from "chicle." It's a natural product from a tree and I've never forgotten the lesson I had to learn.
