Do Americans think we English have tea & crumpets everyday?!
Answers: Whenever there's a food Q involving English people, American answerers always mention tea & crumpets, lol. I hardly ever buy crumpets & I'm a coffee drinker rather than tea.
yes we/they do think stereotypical stuff about everyone else, i hate to admit it as i have a usa passport and a british one, i've been given more samples of it there than in the uk, the most stupidest one 've heard about but never ad said to me is:-
you speak english very well for a foreigner when did you learn english, my friend says that i am english and they still dont get it,
there' so much more out there like this unfortunately
Yeah I want to know too!
It really is annoying and on the programmes (For example family guy)
The english speak as if theres a stick shoved up our ****!
Then again Americans have the concept their all fat? Which isn't true as i've been there :)
Also I think the stereotype is scones! :L
Please answer
Great Question! :)
When I lived in American for a year, some retard asked me if we had clouds and rainbows in England.
I'm surprised some Americans understand the concept of a crumpet.
I drink tea every day, but crumpets well never now.
Suppose then we think that the Americans eat burgers and fries every day.
But you'd have to admit that the Brits do drink a lot of tea.
and dont forget that good o'le phrase
Corr blimey !!!!
and our lovely warm beer that our babies have in their bottles
dont yall think we eat burgers, fries (american food) and drink soda or sweet tea all day?
I thought the vast majority of people in England had tea without fail every day, but as for crumpets, I never thought about it.
They let you drink coffee in England? No!!! (Is that considered unpatriotic?)
i think english people eat sausages and mash all day, and the americans eat twinkies and donuts (as well as burgers and fries). but it is all just opinion - and often people live up to stereo types and that is why they exist..... sadly.
I for one don't. Not even sure what a crumpet is.
No I don't.
LOL well...tea and crumpets is what comes to mind first, but...i mean, its not like we americans eat burgers and fries everyday. so i guess no, americans dont think u have tea and crumpets every day, but a lot of ppl here just dont really kno what else the english eat. thats just the education level in america. sigh.
i'm american, and i've been to England. no i don't think the English have tea and crumpets everyday.
true, it is a standing stereotype, but most educated americans can make the differentiation between stereotypes and reality.
I don't know, its odd isn't it. I suppose because of the history of the British raiding China during the Opium Wars to buy their tea in exchange for a good dose of opium that the British controlled from Bengal. Americans on the other hand has a history with the Spanish who were in turn exposed to coffee drinking. Whatever it is, times have changed though. I do enjoy crumpets and tea, thank you, although I'm from Brunei the colonized world. People here think their mother country is Britain :P
Have your tea after eating you crumpet, she's very nice you know lol.
only joking I don't even know what a crumpet is.
I don't but...there are some stupid people out there. I am from California..Lots of people think everyone here surfs and what not. Stupid stupid stupid
...and watch 'Monty Python' and go to the pub and drink Guiness and eat fish & chips and go to Cricket matches and drive old Bentleys and own a bulldog....
Most of what Americans know of the English is what we get from tv (mostly old comedy series) and movies.
I've been there though and I know different. I have no idea what a crumpet is though; is it anything like what we call an "english muffin'?
Cheers!
true this doesn't really answer your question as i am not american, but i do drink a lot of tea, but haven't eaten crumpets since god knows when
I think most USA citizens are too prissy to use the word 'crumpet'! You forgot fish 'n chips and warm beer!
And Americans also STILL believe we drink warm beer. I must admit we English are a bit reserved unlike our loud...........!

um first off, i really dont think all americans think ya'll sit around and drink tea and eat crumpets. who in the hell cares what yall eat? and yeah we do eat hamburgers and fries and we love them so get over it. TRUST ME, we have better things to do then sit around talking about what you eat.
No, we think you have lousy teeth!
