Why do people eat Brussel Sprouts?!
Answers: They are abominable. Couldn't get more bitter and foul-tasting.
Some of us like them:) My family love them. Two tricks to Brussels Sprouts to make them taste good. First, don't pick them until after they've had a frost on them. Two, don't overcook them. Many people cook them to a pulp. Bleargh.
But what the other poster says about taste is correct. People have different tastes. I don't like chocolate.
Not everyone likes them. I love them personally but i don't like parsnips. We all have different taste buds and like different stuff. Didn't you realise?
People eat them because they are good. I think they taste good. Everyone has different tastes.
They taste nice
It's a matter of taste.
How can u say that about brussel sprouts?? They are lovely! And they are very healthy to eat, they have lots of nutrients, look so cute like mini cabbages and taste yummy! I think you need to eat more of them, the taste will grow on you!
Love em... In fact cooking them at the moment. Also Parsnips, Swede, and Carrots. Fancy some ?

Everyone has different tastes. I'm sure plenty of people don't like brussel sprouts. Just like some people hate tomatoes, or green beans or corn, etc. You don't say how they were cooked. I know I'm not much of a vegetable eater, but I've found a way to cook brussel sprouts that makes them much more palatable. I buy only fresh, cut off the stem base, and quarter them. I spread a little bit of olive oil in a shallow pan, add the sprouts and toss around a bit to coat. Then I sprinkle them with finely chopped rosemary, and add a few whole cloves of garlic to the pan, and then roast them at 375 to 400 deg F. The leaf pcs. start to blacken and crisp (not burned). When they are done, I sprinkle on a little s&p and good parmesan cheese.
Another way I like them is cooked similarly, but with chunks of chicken and sweet potatoes but I keep the oven temp. at 350 -375 deg. F, and I season them with a tangy mixture of spices along with the Rosemary. (There's a spicy garlic mixture that comes in a tall grinder that I found in the market that's wonderful.) I put all the ingredients in a bowl first with the olive oil & toss to coat. Then add the rosemary and spices and toss more. Then onto the shallow baking pan. Adding the s&p and parm. cheese as before. yummmm!
Doh we like them
I love Brussel sprouts, and cabbage................yum........
I eat them because the taste good.

They're a good source of tryptophan - an amino acid - which in turn converts to serotonin and then melatonin. Serotonin helps you feel good while melatonin aids sleep. In one of the links below, there's a great long list of foods with brussel sprouts being one of them (quite a long way down the list). One of the other links explains the link between depression and lack of tryptophan in the diet. However, there are other foods that help produce tryptophan so sprouts aren't essential. They could help enhance the Christmas spirit though, after dinner.
One of my favorites. The wife and kids hate them. If they are overcooked they are nasty mush like most veggies. They can smell like old socks sometimes but usually they are great. If you had bitter ones, they were too old or the weather was too warm when they were grown.
I agree with you they are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo disgusting! I can not stand them. My sister likes them why I have know idea.
we eat em cos we love em! I could eat a whole plate of them. They are very underrated but I know that here in Spain all the supermarkets sell out of frozen sprouts before Xmas so someone must like them.
