I would say yes......

I guess hamburgers technically are, but hotdogs aren't between two pieces of bread, they're on a bun connected at the bottom, so no.

so elizabeth...does that mean its more like a sub?
i think they are sandwiches

Well both are meats in between two pieces of bread, so id say yes.

Also to the person who said hot dogs weren't. What about a Pita or a Falafal those are mediterannean sandwiches and they are two pieces of bread connected.

yes

I'd say that hamburgers are sandwiches, because they fulfill the criteria of having meat in between two slices of bread with layers of ingredients and other food in it too.

However, the hot dogs I eat only have one piece of bread which is folded around it, and some mustard and ketchup.

I do not think it is considered a sandwich because it usually has merely sauce on it, and because people don't eat it like a sandwich (ie. with the buns vertical at the height of the mouth), but they eat it with the surface of the meat facing upwards, and the buns horizontal on either side at the width of the mouth.

ok ppl, a bun is a bun weather it is for a hot dog or hamburger. They both are classified as sandwiches.
