Was a time before refrigeration that people used icehouses, and packed the ice in sawdust. Depending on how long you need to hold it, did your teacher say anything about a thermos? :o)

A thermos bottle like the kind you get with your lunch box. Make sure you keep the lid on nice and tight. Hope it works.

how long for?

if you used an insulating jacket or a thermos bottle (this keeps hot things hot and cold things cold), then it would last for several hours - like when you wrap an insulating jacket around a wine bottle to keep it cold.

Hope that helps :]

To add to the thermos tips, if you shake icewater in it to pre-chill it before putting the ice cubes in, it may buy a little more time.

To also add to the thermos tips, Maybe you could wrap the cube in foil then add to the thermos that has been already frozen...
