Is this meat still good?!
My question is Will my freezer eventually get cold enough to refreeze this meat and if so, will it even be safe to eat? Nothing completely thawed, except for a couple of items which I cooked right away. I'm a little concerned about this. I have children and I'd hate to see them get food poisoning from me being an idiot!
Answers: Last week I received my 6 month freezer order and while waiting for the order, I'd unplugged the freezer, emptied it and let it thaw out. I didn't know that you are supposed to have the freezer running for a day or so to make it cool before you put the meat in, so I ju8st threw the meat in and plugged it in without any prior chilling. A week later a lot of the meat is somewhat frozen, cold enough but not frozen solid. I can bend it a little, but when it had originally arrived it was stiff as a board.

That is a good question. Fresh meat should be able to survive 1 wk.It has been kept real cold. I think the real question is" will you use the meat" and feed the kids knowing the history? Could you take the meat back to the butcher and ask him to re-freeze the meat in his blast freezer??. Good Luck P.s it sounds like your freezer is a bit weak check the temp., If you must defrost it , it sounds like an old one maybe too old.
id throw it out
It depends on the meat. ive left beef in the fridge for five days and its still good but pork or chicken, id throw away just to be safe, otherwise, you may be crapping thru a screendoor from 50 yards away.
If your freezer isn't cold enough to freeze meat, you need a new freezer. If it has been a week, you have an appliance problem.
When in doubt, throw it out. Even though the meat costs a lot of money, it will cost A LOT more money if you eat it & get sick from it!
i think to be on the safe side you should throw it out
because from what you have said it seems to me that the meat has defrosted a little and then frozen again which is not good
so before you regret giving the children the meat i suggest you stick to the safe side and get a new piece of meat
Yeah its no good if it was frozen, then it thawed and then you freeze it again. Once it has thawed it cant be frozen again... Id throw it out just to be safe!
the meat should of never defrosted even with your error. Call a repairman to check it out. For the meat its a piece by piece examination.
