Answers: Meats,Fruits, Beverages, etc.
(The general fridge.)

options:

1. cooler with ice
2. generator
3. outside (winter time)

It's winter. It's in the teens outside. Need I go any further?

Set it outside in a cooler...it is cold enough here to freeze anything! lol! True!

Well, I live in Alaska, so there is one obvious answer...but I'm thinking that is not what you want to hear, eh? LOL

Probably your best bet is to get an ice box cooler (like you take to the lake or something) and buy ice to put your perishables on ice. Be sure to bury your stuff in the ice. You want to be sure your refrigerated stuff stays below 40 degrees F to prevent food born illness.

outside is probably colder than your fridge at the moment, fruits should last the longest if you have any uncooked meats then you can cook them and eat within a day, but you need to limit how often you open the fridge door and do not leave it open, a fridge will maintain its temp if the door is kept closed, if you have heating where the fridge is kept then turn it off this will stop a rush of warm air going into the fridge when the door is opened but apart from that there is not alot you can do, just remember not to eat any cooked meats after 24 hours if the fridge door has been opened and keep an eye on any dairy products, if in doubt throw it out that is what i say about food, you really do not want food poisoning it is nasty, hope you get power soon best of luck.

If you don't open the door at all while the power is out, the food ought to be okay for 1-3 days. If the seal is good on your fridge, the cold air will stay trapped inside and your food will be fine. If it's cold enough outside, putting it on the porch or in the garage works.
