Why has no-one invented a 'milk-kettle' yet?!

Question: It would be handy for drinks that need boiled milk instead of having to use a pan. The patent pending 'milk-kettle' could then be adapted into a smart looking mug with a hotplate at the bottom called a "milk-kettle (tm) milk mug" or something very similar. What are your thoughts on this - would you buy one? I reckon it must be the third best invention ever.

you're a f**kin genious. why didn't I think of that? I'd DEFINITELY buy one.
It's almost as good as a dictionary index (now why has no-one invented that?)

Are you a member of MENSA?

i would think that the demand would be fairly low - for the few who want hot milk drinks there's always the good old saucepan

I think it would be unhygienic !

Water is uncomplicated. It does not have fats, carbohydrates, protein and solids like milk does. The solids would cling to the elements and sides of the "milk kettle" and people would have stomach problems and food poisoning.

Water when boiled is free of organisms. Water left in the kettle is safe once re-boiled. Milk by its nature will go sour and give problems.

I 2nd the remarks by Jennifer D & Ivanhoe Fats.

And of course, don't forget about the microwave!

Just to let you know: you can put all the "patent pending"s and (tm)s you want on your ideas. BUT you have to have a working prototype AND after the patent is granted, you have to be ready, willing and able to go into full production within a relatively short period of time. Why? Because "ideas are a dime a dozen".

You have your doubts? Consult with a Patent and Trademark attorney. He/She should be able to give you all the answers you need.

Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed helping to clarify it!

Yes, that is my real last name!

I don't think I would use it, it sounds kind of hard to clean, and sort of like a needless complication really. Saucepans are easy to use, so I wouldn't spend the extra money.
Also I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to let milk boil. I think that causes the milk to curdle or something similar, so it couldn't be designed like a whistling tea kettle.
