Why aren't fragile things like eggs and light bulbs packaged better?!
When someone invents something better and cheaper, they will change.
Answers: Some bean counter figured out the cost-benefit. The additional cost of better packing is higher than the cost of replacing breakage with the current packaging.

its not cost effective...................
Then the eggs and light bulbs would cost more.
if they break you gotta buy more
Sure does exponentially increase the odds of duplicate buying. It's not about the condition of your bulbs or eggs, it's about the CEO's bonus!!!
it is better for the environment packed lighter
not only is the packaging cheaper they keep it smaller so they can fit more for transit and delivery
Risk vs Return. The value of the potential loss dictates the cost of the packaging.
Safer packing costs a lot more.
Safe eggs would cost about 5.00 a doz. and lightbulbs would be much higher as well.
Here's my question: Why can't grocery store and stores like walmart and kmart teach their people how to bag properly?
What do you mean by packaged better?
If you mean by putting them in better containers and such..
then I don't really see how that'll help.
I dun think it'll help because once you drop the box,
the eggs and light bulbs will break anyways.
But if you mean how they place it in the package then..
I dun see any better way of placing them in the package.
Excellent question! I bought a dozen eggs the other day, there were no broken ones in the box. Yesterday I opened the box and there was a nicely busted egg. So much for quality packaging.
Because that would make too much sense.
I've never had a problem with the way they are packaged. Light bulbs are packaged very well, actually and egg cartons are pretty darn strong. Perhaps it's just you? ;)
