Answers: i have but just wondering if anyone esle does

I've tried a few dozen different brands from around the world (including Kubler and Lucid in the USA.) It's mainly flavored with anise, which is also used to flavor a lot of licorice candies so to many people it tastes like black licorice. It's also got wormwood (of course!) and fennel as prominent herbs, and most absinthes use many other herbs too.

There are some eastern European "absinths" that don't have anise in them and taste very bitter, but without anise it can't really be called absinthe.

And it doesn't make you hallucinate or go crazy. It does have a different effect than other alcohols. Some describe it as a more "clear-headed drunkenness." I've found that I don't feel drunk when I'm drinking absinthe, but I still have a headache the next day.

I do know the states band it a long time ago because it destroyed the brain tissues.

Made out of wormwood, the classic authors enjoyed the black licorice fire when you drink it. They thought it opened their imagination. It destroys brain cells and has been banned in the US for years, but you can still buy it in Mexico and several places on line.

I have only had absinthe once and as I recall it tasted of licorice.
I had visiting friends from the UK and that was what they liked so I tried it. It was fine.
