Anyone out there eat items from Schwans?!

Question: A neighbor gave me their catalog and a lot of their food looks to be quite tasty but their prices are so high! If you get food from them is it worth the price?

there is a chicken rice brocoli bowl they sell in a two pack. its really good! their chicken nuggets are worth it because its REAL meat not all spongy looking yuck. chicken tenders are good too...
their chicken alfredo isnt good. i could make better for a lot cheaper

however the schwans man just knocked on my door today and i got a half gallon of chocolate chip ice cream. mmm and the new catalog... i wonder if their fish is any good?

but all in all you can get the same stuff for a hell of a lot cheaper in the grocery store....
ooo their pecan rolls are amazing!

just be smart if you buy anything from them
ask yourself "how much is this in the grocery store?" and pay attention to the serving count and the weight! their potato products are pretty cheap & large portions, same as you'd pay in the store sometimes cheaper.

i used to. I agree about the prices though. The chicken pieces are good though!

My family used to when my dad had a better job. Yes the food is a little more expensive but the food is very very good. There is a huge selection and they have some unique items. If you want good quality food, delivered to your door by the awesome Schwan truck, order and you wont regret it.

maybe. the food is good especially the ice cream.

I've had the boneless buffalo wings from schwans, and they are really good. I don't think they are worth the price, though. There's just something about ordering meals from a catalog that puts me off. I'd rather see my food in person before buying it.

its good stuff

It's frozen food; not worth it. You can get the same stuff, fresh, from your local grocery store for a fraction of the price.

No. My Mother-In-Law is always buying stuff from them and passing it along to us. She gave us a bag of frozen fruit that she paid like $8 for.Same thing cost $2.99 at Walmart. I guess you could say the extra cost makes up for not having to go to the store, but you have to go anyway for all the other things you need, so where are the savings?

Yes it is good. No it is not worth the price. In my opinion it would still cost more than it is worth if they cut the prices in half on most items.

Bert

My aunt got a few meals from them, but she doesn't cook. The food was better than the regular frozen food. My homemade food is better. And, as you say it is terribly expensive. But if you don't cook and have to watch your diet for health reasons, and your rich, Schwanns is the place for you.

They've knocked on our door lots of times trying to sell us food... the lady that lived in our house before ordered from them so I guess they are thinking we should do the same. I have never had any food of theirs but I have a friend that orders her groceries and I've heard no complaints from her.

i use to but it did get pricey =)
i loved there food though, it was worth it =)

my favorite is the cheese filled bread with sauce. I think i had the chicken before too but I can't remember if it's good. I never tried anything else.

I order some for my lunch.I get tired and don't want to drive 30 mins to get groceries. The Mediterranean vegetables are great with chicken like a stir fry.The ice cream is good and frozen when put it in my freezer. You choose. They are good.

I've ordered from them many times over the years, but not every two weeks when they knock. Yes, the prices are a bit high, but the quality is good. Their 5 cheese garlic bread is the best. I like the seafood (great to have in the freezer for an emergency meal) and appetizers.

they come to my house 2 x's a month. they are very $$$ plus they add 1.00 to every order for gas. nothing special tastes great, not worth the cost!!
