What are 'Windfall Fruits''?!
Answers: Apparently 2 bags for a penny during the war in England but what are/were they?
Apples, pears , plums etc.
Fruit that ripened and fell off the tree by itself or got blown off by the wind. (Not picked)
Apples and such that have fallen from the tree.
fruit that are found lyeing on the ground after a heavy wind - usually overripe.
Fruits like apples etc that have already fallen from the tree.
Ripe fruit such as apples and pears which have fallen from the trees without being picked. Because they are already fully ripe they would not stay fresh as long as fruit picked just before it ripens.
Fruit that has fallen from the tree.
Fruit blown from the tree, some may have been a bit overripe or spotted but fruit was hard to get during the war,so windfalls were a bargain and could easily have any bad or bruised bits cut out.
Dunno...isn't that were a big gust of wind comes along and yanks them off the branches for you and you just have to pick them up off the floor.?
