Why does rice look as though it has increased in amount when I soak it in water?!

Question: The rice soaks up the water, therefore making it expand. Make sure you don't put in too much, because over 50% of the time with me, I make the mistake of putting in too much, forgetting it expands!!

That is what you are supposed to do. The rice absorbs the water. You will also notice, if you were to measure, that your water amount has decreased.
