yes all they do it gut the salmon and cut it up for processing. think of it as a calcium bonus!!!!

It's the back bone, they are completely edible, but I always pick out all the bones.:)

It's just the backbone..I definately agree that it looks disgusting but just take it out..I believe that's its edible..but I sure wouldn't give it a try..lol

It's the backbone...and it isn't disgusting when you consider the calcium content...it's just another way to get it...and by the way..they are very tender from being packed and aren't gross to eat at all.
