Using tinfoil?!
Answers: Which side of the tinfoil should be up when cooking or baking? Does it matter?
I don't think it makes a difference but the more reflective side (the shiny one) should be facing the food. If you put it facing out, the energy is going to be reflected in that direction.
But, again, we're talking about a small fraction of the whole radiation spectrum around visible light.
It doesn't matter, although I put the shiny side up just out of personal preference.
ummmm...tinfoil is the same on both sides...
shiny side is the pretty side
the dull finish should always be facing out ...
I have a memory from...well, a long time ago, say 20 years...that food cooks more quickly with the shiny side facing the food. The image in my head is of burned pizza, and I was told that it was because of the shiny side. I have my doubts, though, never having conducted an experiment....I always put the dull side toward the food, and nothing bad has happened in the last 20 years.
I don't think it matters, unless you are grilling something on tinfoil. If so use the duller side up - but this could be an old wives tale
I usually put the shiny side up - but here's a great tip...when making a casserole (lasagna, ziti, etc.) put plastic over then pan then cover with tin foil. It's okay to bake with the plastic on, as long as it is covered. It won't melt. And your food will not but crusty or dried out around the edges. Trust me!
It kind of does, the shiny side up conducts the heat better. Unless you are cooking very delicate items though I don't think it will matter to much,
As a matter of fact the answer is Yes. Most people use it shinny side up but if say you are baking cookies on it and want a soft chewy cookie use the dull side... if you want a crispier cookie use the shinny side. When using foil as a cover for a dish and you want to add cheese on-top put the dull side up so the heat reflects off of the dish and doesn't cause your cheese to cook to fast or burn.
It does not matter.
