What's so junky in plain potato chips?!

Also; the worst abusers of vegetable oils are potato chip and donut manufacturers.

Tens of thousands of gallons come in, barely hundreds come out.

The manufacturers recycle the oil until it is entirely absorbed by the food. All that dirty oil eventually ends up in the potato chips themselves.

One problem that occurs after re-using vegetable oils is that FFA's (free fatty acids) concentrate.

It turns out that these oils are so bad that biodiesel manufacturers shun them! In other words, they are difficult to catalyze into methyl-esters (biodiesel) and producers are reluctant to use them for engine fuel, yet people still eat the potato chips!

the oil that it was fryed in not only is junky for your body but also takes some of the nutrients in it and cuts it in half if not more it is helther just to eat a potato and salt

too much grease and salt. Trans fat could also be an issue.

11 grams of fat per serving on average makes potato chips a very poor snacking choice. Couple that with the fact they they contain an immense amount of sodium, which makes us retain water thus making us heavier... then add the starch aspect, which means sugar calories which unless burned by exercise will ultimately sstore in our bodies as fat, and voila!!! The answer is evident! Choose some celery or carrot sticks!

I love crisps even though I know they are BADDD.
Potato is high starch, and is already bad eaten in it's raw state, as their 'simple sugars' rapidly convert to glucose that raises insulin levels, and once they are fried are saturated in fat, sodium and god knows what other additives to keep them from going off. The fat in chips is the bad kind - trans fat - the stuff that clogs up your arteries and contributes to your cholesterol levels.
Anything fried has trans fat issues and the potent cancer-causing substance acrylamide.
Unfortunately this knoweldge doesn't stop me scoffing them down though. :)

Too much fat and salt, and most of the nutrients go away when they're fried and processed.
