Don't stack them up too thickly. Layer them with tissue paper over small trays or Tupperware, to keep them from being crushed. The paper will absorb the water that comes out of the berries that often causes the start of molding.

Don't wash them until you're going to use them...the water encourages the mold. Don't cover them...they need the air. I suggest the containers allow air to circulate within them also. But berries are already ripe when picked and even if you get them directly from the fields, they'll only last a few days. I have actually found that if I prepare shortly after I get them home with a little sugar (tossed lightly so I don't bruise them) and then refrigerate them that way (covered), they'll last almost a week even though they're not as good as the first day since the sugar macerates them.

Good luck and enjoy your berries!

They are difficult to keep for more than a few days. In my house, they never last beyond the day of purchase anyway.
