What type of cheese was this?!
Answers: I went to a social event at a hotel. They had a cheese platter with quite a large selection. The one that I loved was shaped like a wheel. It was about two inches thick and three inches across. It had the consistency of a room temperature cream cheese, but looked like a lot of little curds put together. It was rolled in some type of herbs. I have called hotel but did not get an answer. I would to have this again, if I can find out the name of it. Thanks.
It sounds like goat cheese.

I can think of a few things that it might be. You might try going to Google images and searching for pictures of cheese. If you are lucky and patient (you'll get dozens of pages) you might find a picture of the cheese you are looking for and can track it down from there.
Try calling the hotel again. You want to speak to the folks that arrange banquets & parties. They should be able to help you. Be aware that they are generally available only during the day and may have a separate phone number or extension than the main hotel.
Go to a store that either specializes in cheese or has a large cheese department (many large supermarkets in upscale market areas do these days) and speak to the person in charge. They are usually pretty knowledgeable about different varieties of cheese and might know exactly the cheese you are looking for.
If all else fails, do what I did to find my favorite cheese when I lived in Europe. Pick them up one at a time and look & smell until one strikes the "this is IT" note.
