Answers: hoping to get a debate on this, lol ;)

Its a fruit.
As all fruits have seeds . No doubt some vegetables also have seeds but one can easily chew those seeds.Once swallowed they are easily digestable.
Whereas in case of tomato, seeds are not easily chewable and digestbale. This quality of tomato seeds makes it different from vegetables.
Hence its an fruit.

Scientificaly it is classified as a fruit.

the tomato is a fruit!

Some people say tomato is a fruit and others say it is a vegetable. Thus you can actually clarify it as both.

Its a fruit because it has seeds in it... I think that is the reason..

There's nothing to debate...it is, in fact, a fruit.

teacher told me one time that if it has seeds inside of it, it is actually a fruit.

A tomato is a fruit by scienctific definition. Since it has seeds it is considered a fruit. There are others also including cucumbers, squash, and eggplant that have seeds and are cosidered fruits.

A bit of both...

well its a fruit.

It's a fruit.:)

it is classified as a fruit, but many would describe the taste as savoury yet juicy.. in the modern world i think we really see it as a vegetable..

Tomato: bearing a mildly acid, pulpy, usually red fruit eaten raw or cooked as a vegetable.

Botanically, a tomato is the ovary, together with its seeds, of a flowering plant: a fruit or, more precisely, a berry. However, the tomato is not as sweet as those foodstuffs usually called fruits and, from a culinary standpoint, it is typically served as part of a salad or main course of a meal, as are vegetables, rather than at dessert, as are fruits. As noted above, the term "vegetable" has no botanical meaning and is purely a culinary term.
