Is it healthier to eat 3 single meals a day or to eat snacks for meals?!

Question: The concept of what's 'healthier' is a bit disingenuous. If your 3 meals a day were all from McDonald's, then clearly they wouldn't be healthy at all.

The whole '3 square a day' thing is becoming more and more outmoded in the face of research into how to balance blood sugar and prevent insulin crashes which promote hunger. Combined with regular exercise, eating small, balanced meals 5-6 times a day is currently deemed to be the optimum way to get the best in nutrition without feeling hungry.

Interesting that people here see the word 'snack' and automatically assume you meant candy or something fattening. Your snacks can just as easily be fruit or unsalted nuts. :)

three meals of course, you need no breakfast is the best meal of the day.

Eat 6 times a day.....little things each time.

It's healthier to eat three meals a day because snacks are junk food and junk food doesn't makes you grow up or be stronger. Some snacks are healthy but meals are healthier!

If you want to increase your metabolism, it's actually best to eat 6 small meals a day, rather than 3 large ones.
This will also keep your blood sugar level.

Not sure just what you mean. Ideally it's 6 "Small" but balanced meals. The deal is to keep your blood sugar stable & your energy level up. So if you take a small meal to mean snack then yes. 3 meals just do not keep you level.
NO JUNK FOOD

Eat three meals a day. Breakfast is the most important because it gets your metabolism started. And you should eat a small dinner because its not good to just leave all that food sitting in you while you sleep.

I think it is better to eat the 3 single meals

i disapprove of snacks i believe you should eat 3 descent meals egg a good porridge or low fat cereal and then mid day luinch a hot dinner with lot fat meat and salad with a fresh fruit like a apple pear or low fat yoghurt then at night for supper a light supper like scrambled egg on toast and a yoghurt if you do feel peckish eat a raw carrot or chew some non sugar chewing up

What is healthy is to eat a balanced meal and daily use the 5 food groups. Eat every 4 - 6 hours, allowing for a small snack at 2 hour intervals. This way you will never be famished as meal time comes around and perhaps overeat.
Snacks can be a piece of fruit, some crisp bread, some cut up veggies raw. You don't need a huge breakfast but something nourishing like cereal, lunch might be soup & a salad & dinner protein of choice & a few vegetable & fruits.

I eat 4 times a day with healthy snacks. People say 6 small meals...yes thats great if you are home most of the time or if you are working that has refrigerators, but sometimes I'm on the road all the time.
