Not baked beans. They are the fruits from coffee plants, and they're also called coffee cherries or berries.
coffee beans
uh no
Please tell us all that you're kidding.
A bean is any seed from a plant of the legume family, or sometimes, a seed of another family that looks like a bean.
Coffee is actually a fruit, when harvested it's red and is sometimes called a coffee cherry for that reason. After drying and roasting, they are brown and hard, like the coffee beans you buy at the store.
A coffee bean is not a legume, and so not really a true bean, but that's what it's called. The beans used for baked beans are true legumes, from a completely different plant than coffee beans.
In case you didn't know, most food comes from plants or animals.
Coffee comes from the brewing of ground & roasted coffee beans.
Coffee beans come from coffee cherries.
What is a coffee cherry?
The coffee plant is in fact a small to medium sized tree, the fruit of which is called the "cherry." The coffee cherry contains two seeds or beans that are covered by a fleshy pulp membrane. Once ripe, the cherries are typically handpicked and the outer layers are removed by either a wet or dry method. Then, the beans are cleaned, dried, graded and inspected.
