What is a fast way to defrost meat w/o a microwave?!
Depending on what it is you want to unthaw, place it in a plastic ziplock bag and place in cold water.Keep the water really cold, changing it periodically if you have to.
If you're defrosting a whole chicken or turkey, you can place it right in the water with a bit of salt added, also keeping the water really cold.

Put the meat in a plastic bag and run water over it.
Fill sink up with hot hot water
turn meat pack with meat facing down into water
Leave for awhile
If yu have to refill sink later after its cooled
and do again.
I would also submerge the meat in room temp water...after you put it in a plastic ziplock, of course!
It should already be in a bag, but put it in the sink and let it sit there in hot water only....That's what I do and it does work!!
The first answer is almost right. Rather than run water over it, put it in a large bowl or sink full of cold water. Conserving water counts these days.
Hi,
the fastest way is to place the meat in a freezer bag, or any other plastic bag that would not let in any water.
Fill a large container with cold! water and place the bag inside.
don't use hot water, use cold. The hot water can change the texture of the meat, if you are not careful. I think it starts cooking it a bit, or something. But, otherwise, running water over it, while in plastic bag is good advise.
submerge in water.
Not really hot water, because that will tend to defrost or even begin to cook the outside of the meat.
room temp is the best.
i usualy use cold water
