Why do some people go to an ethnic restaurant to order American food?!
Answers: For example last night we went out for Mexican and there was a huge table right next to us where everyone ordered steak and baked potatoes? Why not go next door to Outback or Applebees instead that are known for their steaks?
Fear of the unknown....Americans are known for it unfortunately. I actually prefer "foreign" foods over anything as bland as a steak and baked potato.
Seriously folks, open your minds, and your mouths....there are some great flavors out there.
Because maybe that restarant had better steak, or the restarant was cloer and less expensive.
Plus, mind your own bussiness.
becuase they're chicken! they go to those restraunts to tell themselves that they're going to try new stuff, but then they're too afraid to and just get what they always get.

because they probably wanted to expierence something different or they might just cook a better steak.
Maybe they like the service or atmosphere?
I never do. I go to Mexican restaurants to eat Mexican and so on.. I don't even let my kids order hamburgers or grilled cheese off the kids menu, and they don't even want to anymore anyhow! Experience something new!!! :)
That's just plain dumb. I can understand one or two people from a group ordering American, but what's the point of a whole group going to an ethnic restarant and not eating ethnic unless it is for the drinks or atmosphere? Or perhaps, the restaraunt is conveniently located near some place they've been or are going to.
Because American foods are available in Ethnic restaraunts.
Usually the ethnic restaurants are better cooks, wether they cook American or there own. They have a passion for food usually and it shows. So sometimes you want american food cooked exceptionally good.
maybe they hate mexicanos and my next door neighbor does the same thing
Typically, the consumer might not know what to expect, or feels more comfortable eating their favorite foods. For example, I love Thai, Chinese, Italian, and American foods, but if I went to a French resteraunt that served burgers with fries (yes, unlikely, but just as an example) I would definitly consider that higher than the French food on the menu.
My guess is They just want too. I know sometimes when I go into a Mexican restaurant and I order a burger with fries and my husband orders Mexican food. You also never know some people might just like the service and the environment in that restaurant. It's the freedom to choose. I go to certain restaurants because of the Chef. Sometimes you get better steaks at little quaint restaurants instead of Applebees or Outback. Never forget about the small business restaurants, they usually have better food.

I like to try all different types of food but I am married to a meat and potatoes man,.....some people just can't get out of their comfort zone...
I don't like most of the chain restaurant types...I like those little personal cafes,,,with a local cook..like the little tamale place who has the best tamales you ever tasted...or the little Jamaican cafe that served us wonderful chicken....and their prices were so cheap...gone with the wind though...like most of our local places..
