While eating out, what system should one prefer: buffet or a la carte? Why?!

Question: I prefer buffet; I don't eat a lot but I like small amounts of various items. Some items I don't make at home as I live alone; such as mussels, lobster claw, crab claw, a slice of roast beef, sushi, shrimp in lobster sauce, ja doo wings, a piece of whole steamed fish, a small piece of pie or cake.
I start with one small plate to try each piece. If I want more I can have a little more.
I have never understood how anyone can have 3 heaping platefuls leaving half uneaten. Then have a plateful of 6 to 8 desserts, also half uneaten.
When I have a la carte I can only have an appetizer and a 1 plate meal or I will have 2 appetizers and pass on the entre.

Buffet's are kinda a bad idea, people tend to overeat in them. I would go for the "a la carte"

A la carte, no question.

buffet food is sometimes crap quality.

its unhygienic and unhealthy sitting out in a dish for ages.

when you eat at a buffet (like in pizza hut) u stuff yourself till u are feeling sick (about...20 minutes later when ur brain catches up)

sometimes you pay loads for a buffet and then u only go up once or twice

main reason....if ur out for dinner why wud u want to keep getting up. i like a civilized a la carte affair sil vous plait!

I would prefer buffet, because usually you pay for your whole meal, and you can eat as much as you want.

in my experience, with a la carte, you pay for everything separately, which can get more expensive.

I like Buffet at lunch time as it's quick and easy, But when dining out I prefer A la cart, As I would rather sit, rest,& have conversation.
I do have one problem with buffets, as I've seen people sneeze to thier hands wipe to thier pants and procede through to line. I have to leave at this point as that is gross.
I know it happens all the time but if I don't see it it don't bother me. Just talking about it, I'm done with buffets for a while, they are unhealthy.
One thing I do is order water w/ lemom when I go al a cart as this keeps th price down.

Well for me it would be buffet. I totally agree that you pay more with a la carte because of paying separately. I eat at old country buffet a lot. I love the food. It also has cheap prices. When I went to Apple Bees, the bill was $54.97 and at old country buffet it was $32.85!

Oh my definately buffet, I can eat what I want and as much as I want. I have more to choose from, and can choose my own portions.

a la carte. Buffets tend to encourage you to eat too much. Get over the notion that you have to have an entree. Get a salad and a side dish. Or try an starter and a dessert.. Be creative, try two side dishes.just tip really good .
