Why do we see vanilla flavored foods as white, when the beans are actually black?!

Question: Vanilla Beans and Vanilla Extracts are dark.. but such a small amount is used that it doesn't have much effect on the color of the foods being prepared... and usually the foods are white of light to begin with.

actually the vanilla extract bis black, just a few drops on a millk to make ice cream gives it a vanilla flavor

Oh yeah!

Its a strong and highly concentrated spice!!

Because the black isn't a coloring agent, it's a flavor. Salted black beans are black....even though salt is white.....

I didn't know we did "see vanilla flavored foods as white" to be honest. Good vanilla icecream will often have flecks of vanilla bean throughout. Vanilla extract is used in such small amounts compared to other ingredients it's added too, the color change is barely detectable, if at all. Other things that appear white is just because the amount vanilla is so little by comparison, either in liquid form, or the beans are ground very finely.
