How does something have over 100% of something? I picked up a pack of dried fruits...?!

Question: It says they have 170% of vitamin C? how is that possible?

Answers: It says they have 170% of vitamin C? how is that possible?

It is 70% more then you need for your daily vitamin c intake.

It probably means 170% of the RDA so for arguements same the Recommended Daily Allowence of Vitamin C is 100mg but it had 170mg in.

it is a percentage of the daily recommended value as determined by the FDA. This number is usually based on a 2,000 calorie diet.

they have added extra .

vitamins have to deal with inflation too

It's 170% of the recommended daily value, not of its weight.
For example, if the recommended daily amount for vitamin C is 60 milligrams, a serving of the fruit will have 102 milligrams.

agree with josie n. Remember there is little to no water in dried fruit. So everything becomes more concentrated, per weight and piece. The RDA is also just a "recommended" allowance. It is the miminum requirement is to just keep you alive!
