What is the difference if any ..Rolled Oats and Quick oats ..like Quaker Oats?!

Question: Rolled oats are whole and take longer to cook. Quick oats are broken pieces and cook quicker. That is the basic difference. I use rolled oats but when a recipe calls for quick, I just put my oats in plastic and smash them with a rolling pin.

Quick oats are rolled Oats that are partially cooked.

quick oats are cut into smaller pieces so that cooking time is reduced, but still necessary.
rolled oats have been pre-steamed but take longer to cook than quick oats in "straight-up" oatmeal.
however, in cookies and baking these two are interchangeable...
INSTANT OATS ARE NOT! these are pre-cooked and dried, and not equivalent to these forms.

Rolled oats are actually "rolled in a machine that cracks the shell and leaves the hulls and the white "flower". It is used as horse feed as well as for humans and other animals.
Quick oats have been cooked.
