What has more nutrients? Honey or Maple Syrup?!

Question: Both are healthier choices when it comes to sweeteners, but I believe that RAW HONEY has a wider array of health benefits than Maple Syrup.

Raw honey – which has not been pasteurized or filtered, and ideally taken directly from the hive – is a treasure chest of nutritional value and medicinal remedies. It contains an abundance of vitamins and minerals and is a natural and powerful medicine, both internally and externally. Unprocessed honey has been used worldwide for millennia to promote healing. Honey is antiseptic, antibiotic, antifungal, and antibacterial -- it never spoils! An astounding natural preservative. Unprocessed honey found in ancient tombs was determined to be edible and was even used to preserve bodies. Keeps foods fresh and moist longer and retards spoilage. Raw honey supplies instant energy without the insulin surge caused by white sugar.

Below is just a sampling of it's health benefits:

Aids stomach and digestion - Honey does not ferment in the stomach because, being an inverted sugar, it is easily absorbed and there is no danger of a bacterial invasion. The laxative value of honey, on account of its lubricating effect, is well known. Its fatty acid content stimulates peristalsis. It has also been used to cure gastric and stomach ulcers.

Treatment for Allergies - the bee pollen and propolis suspended within raw honey is very effective in treating allergies. Studies show that raw honey has anti-allergic, anti-imflammatory, and expectorant properties.

Better than Cough Syrup - recent studies show it is more effective at quieting a couch than cough syrup.

Excellent for treating skin rashes, burns and abrasions.

Raw honey is exceptionally effective internally against bacteria and parasites. Plus, raw honey contains natural antibiotics, which help kill microbes directly. It contains vitamins, minerals and enzymes, as well as sugars, all of which aid in the healing of wounds.

Honey

Honey, as long as it is real honey not the artificial stuff.

It's packed with antioxidants, and several nutrients..

believe it or not honey can be very good for you! It is much more healthy than syrup!

I'm pretty sure its honey. But make sure it doesn't have the high fructose corn syrup, if it does

Honey is sugar, Maple syrup is sugar.

The nutrients are the extras.

In the honey are bee parts (inevitable) and pollen. Bee parts are a great protein source but a minuscule amount. Pollen can have some positive effects on health, unless you are allergic to certain types of pollen.

In Maple Syrup you may also have minuscule bug parts and bits of wood and bark. Again the amounts are minuscule and allowable under food protection acts for both.

The answer you seek is also dependent on the sources of the products (eg alfalfa, clover, orange honey).

Find something that suits your taste and don't worry about the "bits" in the honey / maple syrup. As for nutrients - sugars will constitute the greatest proportion in the product. The other components will not register on the nutrient scale.

i think honey does.

Honey because it is totoally natural and it is not boil in the processing. However syrup is boiled which kills alot of the nutrients

Honey because it is made naturally in a bee's hive. They add nothing to honey. When they take Maple Syrup out of trees it tastes bitter. They add a lot of salt and sugar to it to make it better tasting.

Hope this helps,
ADIDAS

Honey is natural, good, sweet and has more nutritional value as well as great medicinal value. Pure maple syrup is good, natural, sweet and super flavour.
