Burnt Steam Cooker, black stuff in it. How to clean it...so cleaning becomes easier?!

Question: Well.. I was careless and fell asleep while cooking(very dangerous). I wasn't aware of a minimum requirement for a pressure cooker and voila, when I woke up, burnt pot. The meal I slaved for hours, gone in an instant. Well, hardly the point, it seems like black stuff has accumulated in on the bottom; no doubt the remains of what would have been a hearty lunch, I tried scraping it off with a wooden spoon, it will somewhat come off, but only after a few hard strikes. It seems that miraculously, the bottom is still shiny and the thing looks saveable. Is there any way you know to make cleaning this easier? I probably have a few hours before my parents go crazy.

i would try putting some dawn and water in there and bringing it back up to a boil, hopefully that will loosen the caked on burntness....

then try steel wool (SOS or Brillo)

I agree putting water in it (not sure about soap though). Get it to steaming for about 15 -20 minutes. That should make it easy to clean.
