Beef is the most consumed meat in USA. In the past 6 decades chicken has been on a continuous climb to have nearly reached the amount of consumption of beef. There are a few reasons for this ranging from the Mad Cow scares and the turn around on slaughtering of chickens is considerable less then for cows.

i say beef, because of the burgers and steaks. Many Americans go to fast food places and most fast food places have burgers.

My guess would be chicken, because most people know enough not to eat red meat as often as they used to. I know I eat a lot more chicken than beef.

That's just my guess, though.

Big Mac's (beef) because of the American penchant for fast food. Though it could be chicken, because of the warped thinking of the fast food eating American that badly prepared chicken is better for you than badly prepared burgers.
