Why is there a small orange INSIDE my orange?!

Question: I bought a bag of oranges and every single one has a small orange growing in the top of it. It's disgusting. Like a bag of pregnant oranges. Why does this happen? And can you point me to some information so that I can read about this?

I think that is a navel orange - they were just picked late so the little orange had a chance to grow big enough for you to notice. Probably left on the tree for longer than usual because of the lousy summer we had this year.

I don't know but, don't let it out!!!

oooo nasty, i have seen it too. but dont know why! sorry! take them back and get a new bag, i would!

The orange is pregnant!

Only mother nature knows this.

Franky

eat the babies. they are the juiciest....

Natural Selection. The smaller orange was too slow for the larger orange so it was eaten.

YOU KILLED A PREGNATE ORANGE!?!?!?!

you sick b*st*rd.

It happens, and it's normal. It's not going to hurt you.

Ever heard of irradiated food?

wow you're lucky.. Its actually a promo... Buy one get one baby orange free :) haha

just eat it.

I believe they are called navel oranges...they've been around like forever.

USE THE THE 'GLASS'....................

They're navel oranges. Nothing wrong with 'em.

You'll find out all about them at the above link. They're darn tasty, though I don't eat the tiny orange part of it.

i believe there's nothing wrong to it. there is just a mess of its genetic maps but they are still oranges.

Well, you know how there are predators and prey in this world.

Large orange was hungry. It saw small, juicy orange. It ate small juicy orange. It's simply fruit instinct, everyone knows that!

Anyway, answering the real question, it's natural. Lots of these 'magical' things happen every where. Why do some people have eleven fingers? Why are there albino turtles? Why are there two-headed snakes? WHY ARE THERE SO MANY QUESTIONS???

I think it might have been a nuclear reaction, or they might be ultraoranges, but hey, its most likely that its something that's natural and has happened before.

I think they are conjoined Foetus oranges
